One Day...

Well.. I was hoping to watch it alone. But my mum seems so shocked at the idea of me watching a movie by myself in the cinema. (good gracious! I'm twenty-two years old, mum!) So, I asked her if she wanted to watch it, too. She asked what it's about and who the actors are. I think it was because 'Anne Hathaway' is in the film that made her want to watch it. So ,yeah, I watched it with my mum.

I was really looking forward to this movie 2 months ago when I read a synopsis of it somewhere, and found out that it's based from a book by David Nicholls, and I had high hopes for this film especially because I read the book just last week (though I bought it weeks ago). Anyway.. We had the perfect seats in the cinema and I prefer if no one sits beside me. :))))

Much to my dismay, there were 2 girls who sat beside me. Actually, I don't really mind if there's someone else sitting beside me. I just don't want my seat mates to be really...chatter-y. Annoyingly chatter-y. And they were!!! I heard the other girl saying to her friend about the movie.. Y'know, something happens every year on that same day stuff. So I assumed she read the book and won't be that... shocked in some scenes (most especially where there are nude parts involved). But she didn't read it. And again, much to my dismay, she was reacting so hard with her friend as if she's read it.I'm so mean, but whatever.I had my period this morning, case closed. They kept on saying (to Dexter. I don't even know if they know Jim Sturgess before this film, or if they have seen other films of his) "OHMYGOD HE'S SO GOOD LOOKING!" Blimey! I've heard them say that countless times! And same with Anne Hathaway "OHMYGOD SHE'S SO PRETTY!"Again, countless times they've said that. It just.. annoys me. Okay, we all know Jim's good looking and Anne's beautiful, but just stop it! Can't you just watch? And oh, yes! Their reactions!!!! They get too carried away and can't contain themselves. They'll hit each other, I mean, on the arm or on one's thigh. And.. they are so prude (from what I uhm... observe) I mean, REALLY!!! They were so shocked seeing nude stuffs in that film. as in shocked! -__- They also kept on talking about love stuffs.. 'She lived with Ian for years but then she didn't love him? Ouch.' Emphasis on the OUCH. Best not to comment on that. Basically, they're just chattery friends who can't contain themselves who also happens to sit beside me. I find myself rolling my eyes at some of their comments.

BUT... I enjoyed the movie. It was a good thing that David Nicholls was the uhm.. screenplayer..? (Is it screenplayer or just screenplay? whatever.) But y'know, some of the scenes in a particular year was really short. I'm like 'That's it?' But it was all good. Anne Hathaway's accent is fine with me and she did good portraying Emma Morley. Her.. uhm... SPOILER ALERT! Her.. demise was really tragic. I know it's gonna happen and that's what I've been excited to see in this film--how they're gonna do that tragic scene. And boy...it left me shocked and shattered and sad. Just like how I felt when I read that part in the book. And for Jim Sturgess... Well.. he was a part of why I wanted to see this film. I love this yet another English man. I loved him in 21 and in Across the Universeand.. I just had this feeling that he'll do really great in this film. And so he did!! And.. YEAH. HE'S SO FREAKIN' GOOD LOOKING, OKAY? Fit for Dexter, the Golden Boy (according to Ian Whitehead). He was so great acting out Dexter's ways.. being drunk and drugged and high and wasted.. Just as how I've imagined Dexter in the book. And Ian!!! OHMYGOD. I didn't expect that Ian would look that way. He looks kinda funny to me.  I also didn't expect to see Georgia King there as Suki. I was like 'OOH! SHE WAS IN WILD CHILD AND TORMENTED!!" lolol. And Sylvie.. boy, do I hate that character. And yeah.. she was okay. I mean, Romola Garai (Sylvie) really made me hate that character even more. Convincing. Well done.

So.. that was what happened to me this afternoon. My One Day movie experience! :))
OH! I just would like to share this quote from Ian Whitehead when he spoke with Dexter.. God, this was really touching.
She made you decent, and in return you made her so happy, so happy, and I will always be grateful to you for that.
I remembered that in the book, Ian wrote Dexter a letter and I cried on that part. It was the most touching part ever. I just couldn’t cry at the cinema when I heard that.
And… lastly.. I found this gif here in tumblr. To whoever made this gif, well, hi! And thanks for making this gif. I love this gif.
And.. A lot more gifs..

P.S.
This film does have a lot of lessons to teach us. Particularly, you know… Dexter’s life. Good God, this book and film will always be one of my favorite! Go read it!
Thanks for reading. (that is if someone really read this thing.)
gifs are not mine.

"I pledge to read the printed word."

WOW!

It's been a while since I blogged. Actually, I was pretty busy doing nothing but reading. Every week, I am reading something. I have never loved reading so much not until now.

I love to read. I've always loved reading. When I was a kid, my mom would always let me read newspaper and then tell her what I understood. Of course, she'll let me read the easy-to-understand-kind-of-news. I was a kid then! Then, she bought me books. Fairy tale books. Short children stories. AND I LOVED IT. I tried to read everything in that thick book and even re-read my favorite stories because I want to get out of reality and be in the story I'm reading. It's like traveling.

As I was growing up, I ask my mom to buy me some books. I'd settle for Sabrina, the teenage witch books then 'cause I love that show. And every year, in our school, there is a book fair and I'll always look at what kind of books they have. I remember buying Sweet Valley High novels. And remembered hating Libby so much. :)) Then on my 6th grade, I had my very first book report. It should be a classic novel. And I remembered picking up Heidi in the library. From there, I started loving classic novels. And as I entered high school, there were a lot of classic novels we discussed on my English class. And.. I don't know but I'm just fascinated with everything classic. They're all very good, be it music or stories or anything. It's.. great.

As I go along high school, I didn't have the time to buy and read more books. I was busy with school and I am exploring stuffs. It's like there's a lot going on. :)) But when I have the time, I read. BUT.. It was more of fan fictions when I was in High School. I even wrote fan fictions then.

Then I entered College. I REALLY DIDN'T HAVE THE TIME TO READ. Seriously. The only books I read was... Tuesdays With Morrie (book report, Philosophy class), Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and the Twilight Series when I was in my senior year. That's all. If I was 'busy' in High School, I was dead busy in College.  The only books I get to read are my Nursing books. :/

And now.. I read a lot. I think it is to make up for the 'years' I lost not reading. It all started last April 2011. It was a holy week and before the malls close down on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, I decided to read something. And then I picked up Fallen by Lauren Kate. From there, I got addicted and on the next week, I bought its sequel, Torment. After that, I researched about that novel, even becoming a fan of it on facebook and then I saw someone said 'The Mortal Instruments series.' I researched for it and I was intrigued by it. So.. I hunted it in the bookstores and I had a hard time looking for it, actually. I kept seeing The Mortal Instruments: City Of Fallen Angels and realized it was the fourth and latest book. Then I found a boxed TMI series. It has the first three books and without a doubt, I purchased it. I didn't go and buy the fourth book but I found a replacement for that. I saw Clockwork Angel and realized that the author of it is also the author of TMI. So that day, I bought the first three books of TMI and Clockwork Angel. By then, I was happy. :)) I was busy reading day and night. But before I started Clockwork Angel, I bought the fourth book of TMI. I was completely happy! :))

After I finished all of those, I kept on researching for more good books to read. I came across My Name Is Memory by Anne Brashares. I was kind of.. curious about this because the lead characters' name is the same with the Fallen Series. Daniel and Luce (Lucy in My Name Is Memory) and they were like star crossed lovers and Daniel knew Lucy for a looooooong time and was in love with her since then and HE never forgets her. I bought it and it was good. Now, I'm waiting for its sequel. I know there will be. It's a major cliffhanger in the end. :)) And after reading that, there came Passion, the third book in Lauren Kate's Fallen series. Before I started reading it, I re-read Fallen and Torment first. :)) And after I read Passion, which is so awesome, I already have Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. I, again, had a hard time looking for it in the bookstores but.. they're not just about to go out of stock on me 'cause I have to read it. I read it last week and before I finished reading it, I purchased its sequel, Crescendo. I am about to finish it but I figured that it could wait for the night. I enjoy reading at night. It's when my imaginations are really good. :)

There are a lot of good books to read that are in line for me. FIRST OF ALL, I GOTTA HAVE THE HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY. And I know that sooner or later, I'll have it and I can't wait. I don't think it's gonna happen after I finish Crescendo because I have .pdf files of The Vampire Academy (which has 6 books, therefore, I have 6 .pdf files of it) and Halo. mmhmmm.. 7 more! I am just so excited every time I read YA novels. These are the things I missed when I was in College.

STILL TO READ:
The Five People You Meet In Heaven
The Vampire Academy Series
Halo
The Immortal Series
One Day
Across The Universe
Silence
Harry Potter books 4 upto 7
The Super Sad True Love Story
Prophecy Of The Sisters
The Wolves of Mercy Falls Series
Born at Midnight
Divergent

...and a lot more.. :D

Will's Letter

I found this translation of William Herondale's letter to his parents and sister. Good thing it was translated or I think I'll cry. LMAO!

Mother, Father and little sister
Today I’m turning seventeen. I know that writing you means I am going against the law, so I will probably rip this letter when I am done writing it. Like how I did every birthday from seventeen, but I’ll write it anyways to outline the occasion – like someone that every year goes to see a tomb of a dearly beloved. Who knows if you remember today, seventeen years ago, that you have a child? Who knows if you think of me and imagine my life here at the institute in London? I doubt that you can imagine it. Here it’s all different from our house, surrounded by mountains with an immense blue sky and a green that you can lose your eyes in. Here everything is black and gray and brown and the sunsets are painted of blood and smoke.
Who knows if you worry about the fact that I’m alone or how mother used to do when I am cold and go out under the rain without my hat? Here no one worries about these details. The risk of being killed from one moment to another is very high and the possibility of a cold has no relevance.
Who knows if you knew that I heard you the day you came looking for me, when I was twelve years old. I hid under the bed to keep away the sound of your voice yelling my name out loud, but I heard you. I heard mum because she was looking for her little one. I used to bit my hands until they bled but I didn’t come down. I asked myself often why you guys left me a Nephilim. I don’t know if you believe that they were cruel or cold but to tell you the truth, I didn’t find them like that.
Charlotte in particular is very gentile with me, without knowing that I don’t merit her attentions. Henry is crazy like a horse, but he’s a really good person. Emma would have laughed a lot with him. There’s little good to say about Jessamine but she’s a none-threat. On the contrary there’s a lot of good to say about Jem. He is the brother that dad says I should have had. Blood of my blood - although we’re not even related. For all that I had to lose in my life, his friendship I have gained.
By the way, there’s a new arrival at home. Her name is Tessa. Do you know when the clouds of the ocean gather on top of a mountain? There. That gray is the exact color of her eyes.

The last paragraph of his letter... I find it really sweet.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Casting

SO... Lilly Collins have been casted as Clary Fray. AND... it's been like a torture to TMI fans as who Screen Gems will cast as Jace Wayland. Last May 31, 2011 (or June 1, here in the PH),  Jamie Campbell Bower have been casted as Jace.

Of course, many fans of the book reacted. Most of the fans wanted Alex Pettyfer to be Jace. He's like the top choice but according to articles I read, he declined. Then there's the "TOP THREE" contenders: Ed Speelers (Eragon), Leebo Freeman and Jamie Campbell Bower. A lot of fans also wanted Max Irons and lately, posting a photo of him in his "Jace get down", is Ben Stone.

I wasn't there when the book of City Of Bones and the TMI novels started. I was really pretty busy those years what with the licensure examinations review and all. And just this summer, I started reading books because I was so bored of getting on line on my social networking accounts everyday and nothing happens. I, then, started reading the Fallen novels by Lauren Kate and after that, I was curious about this 'The Mortal Instruments' novels so I bought them. And I loved it. And from there, I knew what the hype was all about. It's like the new generation of Harry Potter. Fans are very passionate about it especially that it's going to be made into a movie. They wanted it to be perfect and I'm one of the 'they' btw. :)

So going back, I became... passionate in this YA novels I read particularly TMI. I, personally, wanted Alex Pettyfer to be Jace Wayland. He's perfect for the role. But then, as I've said, he declined. So, the next actor I wanted to play as Jace was Ed Speelers. I really couldn't see Leebo Freeman as him. Neither Jamie Campbell Bower, but he was my next choice after Ed Speelers. Then, Ben Stone.

But things happen and not according to how we wanted it to be. Jamie Campbell Bower was casted as Jace. To be honest, my heart sank when I found out. My Tumblr dash was all about him as Jace. I was in denial at first. And I wanted to rebel against Screen Gems for doing that but what will my rebellion do? Then I started to calm down and read Cassie Clare's tweets and said that JCB (Jamie Campbell Bower) was the perfect Jace. She saw JCB's audition and she said that it was 'unfuckingbelievable.' And with that, I felt okay with it. I have nothing against JCB. I don't hate him. I like him. But y'know, I just wanted what I want and it's just really upsetting if you didn't get what you want. So in the end, I was able to finally accept JCB as Jace. He's a good actor and I know he can pull it through. He just needs to have that heavenly body of Jace  and I think he'll be great.

The 2 main characters have been casted already. Things are going to be... I guess pretty fast from now on. Casting Jace was like a long journey for the pre-production of this film. I can not wait for the other characters to be casted.

P.S.

Alex Pettyfer will always be my Jace. And I ain't mad that he turned down the role.

My Alex

I am in love.

Alex Pettyfer is love! ♥

I've never been more interested in him until now. I didn't know that he was Emma Roberts' love interest in the film Wild Child. AND I've watched that.*sigh* BUT.. I know that it was him on the film I Am Number Four. I've watched that with my mom and I had a slight crush on him then. LMAO!

Recently, I've been obsessed with books and I am currently reading the third book of The Mortal Instruments, the City of Glass. When I finished The first book of that series (City of Bones), I researched on it and found out that it's going to be a film... and they're still on the look out for an actor who will play as my (love) Jace Wayland. And I found Alex's name connected on it. I found out that he's been offered the role but he didn't say (yet) if he's going to accept it. Honestly, I think he should. HE'S the real-life Jace Wayland. He just fits the role. Whenever I read The Mortal Instruments and Jace is in the scene, Alex immediately pops into my mind. HE'S MY JACE. :) And I'm sure he's everyone's Jace too.

Also, I read Fallen novels and it's going to be a movie too! The fans of that novel (mostly) wants him as Daniel Grigori. Personally, Alex is also my choice for that role. Alex has the look of an angel. He's an angel. :)

Okay. Enough about Jace and Daniel. This is about Alex. :D I did some research and I found out that he's just a year younger than me and that HE'S BRITISH! *Squeals* I LOVE BRITISH BOYS!!! I was curious on how he sounds when he speak so I youtube'd him and I found first his guesting on Ellen. Man! He sound so lovely! I melted when I saw him and on that suit and swooned when he spoke. Then Ellen found a way for him to  take his shirt off. She had this I ♥ ellen T-shirt and in the (almost) end part of the interview, he took off his coat and shirt (Ellen helped him too! RAWR!) and there... I DIED. :D He's all the definition of sexy, hot, smokin' etc., etc..

And since then, I am just so in love with him. I did some more research and found out that he was a Burberry model, too. He look so beautiful there.. Well.. HE IS beautiful even if he's not modeling. Just him. I mean.. Alex is just.. incredibly magnificent! If I am just being myself when I talk to my friends, I think they'll be so annoyed with me because for sure, I will talk about Alex... over and over again. haha! Seriously, he's my celebrity boyfriend now. ROFLMAO! And I plan on watching all of his films. :D

Here are some of his photos as a model of Burberry.

And here are some of his photos (not Burberry related).

There goes my (celebrity) boyfriend. (LMAO!) ♥

He's my Jace Wayland, my choice of Daniel Grigori but... he's my Alex. :D ♥

The Mortal Instruments

Today is Wednesday and I bought a book again. (I bought Fallen and Torment on a Wednesday!)

OH! Correction! It's "BOOKS!"

Yep. BOOKS. 4 books actually. :)))) Never done this in my whole life! But It's worth it. :D

After I hit the gym, I went to a bookstore to buy the first book of The Mortal Instruments. Honestly, I'm so intrigued with this novel and I've read synopsis about it and I think it's a good read. So the night before today, I decided that I'll buy the first book... and maybe the 2nd book since it's really starting to vanish in the book store.

Once I was there, I looked for it and then all I can see was loads of the 3rd book of The Mortal Instruments!! No book 1 and 2! :( So to avoid too much despair (LMAO), I looked for other books. Then I saw Clockwork. The author was also the author of The Mortal Instruments and it is the prequel to The Mortal Instruments. I read the synopsis and I liked it. And it's much cheaper than TMI. :))) BUT. My priority is really TMI so I went to another bookstore and there I saw a softbound of the first book of The Mortal Instruments and a hardbound of the 2nd book. blah! It's going to cost tooooo much for me. Then I saw a compiled set of the first 3 books of The Mortal Instruments worth Php 949. I computed for the price of the individual books and it costs about a thousand plus pesos! Actually, the compiled books are CHEAPER. So I borrowed money from my mom and I bought it. I also bought the prequel novel to TMI. :))))) So now I have 4 books! :D

This will really keep me away from the computer. I have lots of reading to do! :D

This will also keep my mind away from the Fallen Novels as I am (im)patiently waiting for Passion which is set to be released this June in the U.S. I just don't know when it will be released here. It's driving me... crazy... waiting for my Cam! hahaha! Okay, I'm ending this now.

ahhh! It's raining and it's thunder-ing and there is just soooo much  lightning! Gaaah!!

I'm a sucker for Young Adult Supernatural novels!

Fallen... Angels

Last week (Wednesday), I asked my mom to buy me a book. I just wanted to do something for the Holy Week that will help me stay away from opening my laptop besides watching TV shows. So I scouted the bookstore for novels.

I passed by a stacks of books in the Best Seller area. There's this book that caught my attention because of its cover. Its title is Fallen by Lauren Kate. I LOOOVED the book cover. So I picked it up and read the synopsis at the back of the book. It doesn't say much but I was really interested in it. After reading the synopsis, I was thinking if I should go buy it already but I decided to stay longer at the bookstore and look for more.

Then I found Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol. I've always like Dan Brown since I read The Da Vinci Code. So that book became my second option.

I searched for more. I circled all the book shelves and nothing interests me except for Fallen and The Lost Symbol. I HAD to choose one. I thought about it and finally I picked up Fallen. I haven't heard of this novel before (from my friends or anyone) so I thought it's my time to share to them what this book is about after I read it.

Its price tag is Php359. I told mom about it and said that it's expensive but she gave me the money anyway. haha! And when the cashier punched it in, I only paid Php287.75! I checked the receipt and it says--after the title of the book-- 'PROMOTIONAL METHOD.' I have no clue what that means. Maybe it's on discount? I don't know. But I'm glad that it became... cheaper. :))

I didn't read it when I got home. I read it last Friday and I got hooked on it!! I am so into the novel and I loved it more because I read it before I sleep. :D BUT!! Before I read, I searched about it online and found that it's about the fallen angels. Reading that info made me so excited to start and read the book. The moment I found out that it's about fallen angels, I stopped searching about it. I don't wanna get spoiled anymore so I shut down my laptop and started reading.

As I go along the chapters, part of me compared it to Twilight. Yeah, yeah. But part of me convinced that other part of me that it's not the same. Their similarity is that, it's both supernatural. That's it.

I finished reading it yesterday. Because there are nights that I can't read anymore because I was sooo tired from cleaning stuffs here at home. But if I didn't get tired those days, I could've finished it in 2 days... or less than 2 days.

This novel left me hanging. Obviously, there's a next novel to it and there is! I read the epilogue of Torment, the second Fallen Novel and I loved it. So I decided to buy it the next day and I did! I bought the hardbound! ha! And it's quite funny because the tag price was Php495 and I only paid Php396! FOR A HARD BOUND BOOK! I was soooo happy! I might start reading this after I watch Glee which will end at 5pm. I. CAN'T. WAIT. :D

Eye-catching cover!
I love touching it too.
The texture is not like any other books.

I bought this today. I love touching the cover too! :))

And when I removed the paper cover of Torment, I saw this.
WINGS!! ♥

The third Fallen novel will be out on June 2011.
Its called 'Passion.'
Can't wait!

"Some Angels are destined to fall."
